Do I need to bring anything with me when I come to church?
No, come as you are. There is no special dress code or books to bring. All materials are provided for services. If you are attending an outdoor service we encourage you to bring your own folding chair. May I receive the bread and the wine? Yes. We have an open altar. We believe Jesus welcomes all to his table and so we welcome all to the altar. We offer gluten-free wafers as well as regular bread and wine. What do you call receiving the bread and the wine? We call it the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist or Holy Communion (we could also call it the Mass). What is a sacrament? A sacrament is an outward sign of an inner truth. We often refer to the inner truth as a spiritual gift, a gift of God to us. |
What if I don’t know when to kneel or stand or sit?
Our worship bulletin prompts for when to sit and stand. Messiah we basically sit to listen and stand (if we can) to participate. Those who wish to kneel for prayer can do so. I am in a wheel chair, are you accessible? We are fully accessible with available handicap parking spaces, ramp and an elevator. Will my children be welcome, they may be noisy? Yes all are welcome. There is a delightful nursery for little ones if you wish to use it. The staff is trained. There are Sunday school classes for children aged 4 to 12 which take place during the worship service time. Children come back to receive Holy Communion with their parents. Can children receive Holy Communion? Yes they can, as we believe Jesus welcomes all to his table. Is coffee hour only for parishioners or may guests attend? All are welcome to join our fellowship and coffee hour. There is no fee or special donation. Come and enjoy! |
